Times are tough for local nonprofits. Chances are your finances are tight this year, too. But
you probably have some items you no longer need that a nonprofit would be very happy to receive.
Why not do a quick search on the Community Wish List for San Mateo County and find an
organization that will put your discarded items to good use?
As you browse the Community Wish List, you’ll be amazed at how many good people are providing
excellent services in our county. They are seeking items ranging from movie passes to mattresses
and from cleaning products to computers.
All of these organizations would welcome the gift of your time, too. Don’t be shy. Pick up the
phone and ask, “How can I help?”
By working together, we all benefit by making our county a better place to live.

The idea behind the Community Wish List is simple. Instead of asking for checks, local
nonprofit organizations list items they would like donated in order to serve the community
better. People find pleasure in giving gifts to others, particularly things that might otherwise
go to waste. Donors can claim a tax deduction on their taxes for contributions. We all benefit by keeping things out of the landfill.
